Javier Cuadrado graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Navarra (Spain) in 1990. Afterwards, he worked as assistant professor at the School of Engineering of the same university and, simultaneously, granted by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science, he developed his doctorate under the supervision of Prof. Javier Garcia de Jalon at the department of Applied Mechanics of CEIT (Spain), a research center settled in the Basque Country, closely related to the University of Navarra. He received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from that university in 1993, having specialized in computational analysis of multibody systems. In 1994, he joined the Mechanical Engineering department of the University of La Coruña (Spain) as Associate Professor, becoming Full Professor in 2000. In March 2002, he founded the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering (http://lim.ii.udc.es) at the mentioned department.

His research is oriented to the computational kinematics and dynamics of multibody systems with rigid and flexible links, and their applications, mainly in the automotive, biomechanical, machinery and maritime industrial sectors, having published more than 40 papers in journals and 130 in conferences. He has been principal investigator in a number of competitive national projects, and in projects funded by national companies as well. He has participated in projects funded by the European Commission, European Space Agency, and US Army Research Office. He has supervised eight doctoral theses. He is member of the Editorial Board of five international technical journals: Multibody System Dynamics, Journal of Multi-body Dynamics, Mechanism and Machine Theory, Mechanics Based Design of Structures and Machines, Journal of Computational and Nonlinear Dynamics. He is o has been member of the Steering Committees of the main conference series on multibody dynamics: IMSD, ECCOMAS TC-MBD, ASME MSNDC, ACMD, MuSMe. He co-chaired the ECCOMAS Thematic Conference "Multibody Dynamics 2005", held in Madrid, Spain, and chaired the EUROMECH Colloquium 476 "Real-time Simulation and Virtual Reality Applications of Multibody Dynamics", held in Ferrol, Spain, in 2006. He chaired the Technical Committee for Multibody Dynamics of IFToMM (International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science) since its creation in 2005 until 2013, and is secretary of IMSD (International Association for Multibody System Dynamics) since its creation in 2014. He was member of the team that developed commercial software COMPAMM (COMPuter Analysis of Machines and Mechanisms), which was commercialized by Mechanical Dynamics Inc. all over the world.
