Picture Javier Cuadrado Aranda <javier.cuadrado@udc.es>

Javier Cuadrado graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Navarra (Spain) in 1990. Afterwards, he worked as assistant professor at the School of Engineering of the same university and, simultaneously, granted by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science, he developed his doctorate under the supervision of Prof. Javier Garcia de Jalon at the department of Applied Mechanics of CEIT (Spain), a research center settled in the Basque Country, closely related to the University of Navarra. He received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from that university in 1993, having specialized in computational analysis of multibody systems. In 1994, he joined the Mechanical Engineering department of the University of La Coruña (Spain) as Associate Professor, becoming Full Professor in 2000. In March 2002, he founded the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering (http://lim.ii.udc.es) at the mentioned department.

His research is oriented to the computational kinematics and dynamics of multibody systems with rigid and flexible links, and their applications, mainly in the automotive, biomechanical, machinery and maritime industrial sectors, having published more than 50 papers in journals and 150 in conferences. He has been principal investigator in a number of competitive national projects, and in projects funded by national companies as well. He has participated in projects funded by the European Commission, European Space Agency, and US Army Research Office. He has supervised nine doctoral theses. He is or has been Associate Editor of three journals, Mechanism and Machine Theory, Journal of Computational and Nonlinear Dynamics, and Mechanics Based Design of Structures and Machines, and member of the Editorial Board of two other journals, Multibody System Dynamics, and Journal of Multi-body Dynamics. He is o has been member of the Steering Committees of the main conference series on multibody dynamics: IMSD, ECCOMAS TC-MBD, ASME MSNDC, ACMD, MuSMe. He co-chaired the ECCOMAS Thematic Conference "Multibody Dynamics 2005", held in Madrid, Spain, and chaired the EUROMECH Colloquium 476 "Real-time Simulation and Virtual Reality Applications of Multibody Dynamics", held in Ferrol, Spain, in 2006. He chaired the Technical Committee for Multibody Dynamics of IFToMM (International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science) since its creation in 2005 until 2013, and is secretary of IMSD (International Association for Multibody System Dynamics) since its creation in 2010. He was member of the team that developed commercial software COMPAMM (COMPuter Analysis of Machines and Mechanisms), which was commercialized by Mechanical Dynamics Inc. all over the world.

Picture Miguel Angel Naya Villaverde <miguel.naya@udc.es>

Miguel Angel Naya graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 1996, from the University of Vigo (Spain). He started Ph.D. studies at University of La Coruña in 1996 where, simultaneously, he was granted to work in the research project entitled "Methods for Intelligent Real-Time Simulation of Multibody Dynamics", funded by the U.S. Army Research Office and led by Professor Eduardo Bayo. He became Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the same university in 1998 and, after obtaining his Ph.D. degree in June 2007, achieved the position of Associate Professor in 2009. His research is focused on the application of multibody dynamics to the simulation and control of cars.

Picture Manuel Gonzalez Castro <get e-mail address>

Manuel Gonzalez got the degree with laude as Mechanical Engineer in 1999 at the University of La Coruña. He got the Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in April 2005 at the same university. In April 2000, he became Assistant Professor at the Department of Industrial Engineering II and, in November 2009, Associate Professor at the same department. He works at the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory from its foundation. He has been visiting scholar at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain) in 2001 and at the University of Illinois at Chicago (U.S.A.) in 2002. His research is focused on Computational Mechanics, CAD/CAE and Virtual Reality.

Picture Daniel Dopico Dopico <ddopico@udc.es>

Daniel Dopico graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of La Coruña (Spain) in April 2002, and got his Ph.D. in October 2004. He worked at the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering, granted by the research funds of the Laboratory, from May 2002 to February 2005, when he was contracted by the university as Assistant Professor. In February 2010 he became Associate Professor at the University of La Coruña. His research is focused on real-time formulations, numerical integration methods and contact algorithms for multibody dynamics. He enjoyed a predoctoral research stay at Universidad Politecnica de Madrid in 2004 and another stay at Politecnico di Milano in 2005. More recently he was hired as a research scientist at Virginia Tech (USA) in 2012-2013, where he has been involved in a project on optimization of multibody systems. Currently he continues working on this topic. From June to September 2018 he visited again Virginia Tech to continue his collaborative work on the same topic.

Picture Urbano Lugris Armesto <ulugris@udc.es>

Urbano Lugris graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of La Coruña (Spain) in March 2003. Then, he joined the mechanical department of consulting company Norcontrol S.A., where he carried out technical assistance and quality control tasks for wind power plants and steel structures. In May 2004 he started his doctoral thesis at the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering, granted by the Spanish Government, and got is Ph.D. in November 2008 with a thesis on real-time formulations for multibody dynamics with flexible bodies, spending three months at University of Sevilla in 2005, and three more at University of Stuttgart in 2006. In January 2011 he became Assistant Professor and, since September 2020, he is Associate Professor. His work is currently focused on the biomechanics of human motion. In 2014 he spent three months at University Duisburg-Essen.

Francisco Gonzalez graduated in Mechanical Engineering at University of Navarra (Spain) in October 2004. Then, he moved to the department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Vigo (Spain), where he followed the first year of the doctorate program and, simultaneously, worked as teaching assistant. In October 2005, he joined the University of La Coruña (Spain) to work at the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering, funded by the research projects of the Laboratory. In May 2006, he obtained a doctorate grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science, getting his Ph.D. in May 2010 with a study on efficient implementations and co-simulation techniques in multibody system dynamics. He spent three months at the Lappeenranta University of Technology (Finland) in 2007, and two months at Ressenlaer Polytechnic Institute (USA) in 2009. After enjoying a postdoc position at McGill University (Canada) from June 2010 to August 2014, he returned to the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering in September 2014, funded by a Juan de la Cierva contract from the Spanish Government. From July 2017 to April 2018, he made a new stay in McGill University (Canada). In May 2018 he returned again to the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering, funded by a Ramon y Cajal contract from the Spanish Government which ended in April 2023. From May 2023 he is Associate Professor.

Picture Alberto Luaces Fernández <aluaces@udc.es>

Alberto Luaces obtained his degree in Mechanical Engineering at University of La Coruña (Spain) in January 2006. From October 2004 to April 2006 he worked at the department of mechanical engineering at Jornel Ingeniería, a company devoted to the design and manufacturing of machinery for logistics. In May 2006 he joined the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering of University of La Coruña, granted by the research funds of the Laboratory and, in September 2007, he started his PhD thesis on machinery simulators, granted by the Spanish Government, getting the doctoral degree in April 2013. He enjoyed a predoctoral stay at Transilvania University of Brasov in 2009, and a postdoctoral stay at University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2013. From September 2012 to September 2016 he combined a part-time position of temporary substitution professor with his dedication as researcher to the Lab projects. In October 2016 he became Assistant Professor, and in August 2021 he became Permanent Assistant Professor.

Picture Emilio Sanjurjo Maroño <emilio.sanjurjo@udc.es>

Emilio Sanjurjo graduated in Mechanical Engineering at University of La Coruña (Spain) in July 2011. In September 2011 he joined the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering of University of La Coruña, granted by the research funds of the Laboratory and, in January 2014, he obtained a doctorate grant from the Spanish Government, achieving his doctoral degree in December 2016. In 2015 he spent three months on a pre-doctoral stay at TU Delft, Netherlands. From February 2018 to November 2019, he combined a part-time position of temporary substitution professor with his dedication as researcher to the Lab projects, promoting to a full-time position in December 2019. In March 2021 he became Assistant Professor. His work deals with the experimental validation of multibody car models and the development of state and input observers for ground vehicles.

Florian Michaud graduated in Engineering (Mechanical and Ergonomy) at University of Belfort-Montbeliard (France) in April 2014. In June 2014 he joined the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering of University of La Coruña, granted by the research funds of the Laboratory, to work on the biomechanics of human motion. Since May 2017 until January 2020 he enjoyed a doctorate grant from the Spanish Government. In 2018 he carried out a five-month pre-doctoral stay at Rice University in Houston, USA. In January 2020 he obtained his doctoral degree. Since then he continues working, now as a doctor, on applications of multibody dynamics to the biomechanics of human motion.

Picture Antonio Rodríguez González <antonio.rodriguez.gonzalez@udc.es>

Antonio Rodriguez graduated in Mechanical Engineering at University of La Coruña (Spain) in February 2015, when he joined the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering of University of La Coruña, granted by the research funds of the Laboratory. Since January 2016 he enjoyed a doctorate grant from the Spanish Government, his PhD thesis dealing with the implementation of car state observers in embedded systems. In 2017 he carried out a four-month pre-doctoral stay at KU Leuven, Belgium. In June 2020 he obtained his doctoral degree. Since then he continues working, now as a doctor, on applications of multibody dynamics to the automotive field.

Picture Pablo Díaz Brage <pablo.diaz.brage@udc.es>

Pablo Díaz graduated in Mechanical Engineering at University of La Coruña (Spain) in September 2015. Then, he worked on numerical simulation applied to fluid mechanics, enjoying a grant at the Integrated Engineering Group of that university and, later on, another one at the Technological Institute of Aragón (Spain). In February 2017 he started a period of three and a half years in which he focused on life and sport sciences at the Faculty of Sport Science and Physical Education of University of La Coruña, presenting his PhD thesis in March 2019, working on the digital adquisition and processing of biological signals, and making some incursions on biomechanics. He joined the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering of University of La Coruña from April to June 2021, participating in biomechanics and sensoring in life sciences. After ten and a half months in CTAG and two and a half months in Jember Engineering Solutions, he returned to the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering of University in August 2022, being devoted to the multiphysics simulation of automotive electric motors.

Picture Sarath krishnan Karumathil <sarath.karumathil@udc.es>

Sarath krishnan graduated in Mechanical Engineering at University of Calicut (India) in April 2014, and completed Masters in Ship Operation and Naval Engineering from Ecole Centrale de Nantes (France) in August 2017. In February 2018 he joined the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering of University of La Coruña, granted by the research funds of the Laboratory. From August 2018 until December 2022 he enjoyed a predoctoral grant from the Spanish Government. He defended his PhD thesis, dealing with the computational simulation of fishing nets, in December 2022.

Picture Álvaro López Varela <alvaro.lopez1@udc.es>

Álvaro López graduated in Industrial Electronics and Automation at University of La Coruña (Spain) in September 2014. From June 2015 to January 2017 he worked for Narontec, devoted to PLC programming and control. From May 2017 to August 2018 he worked for Reganosa, on the updating of the plant control and safety systems. In September 2018 he joined the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering of University of La Coruña, funded by a predoctoral grant from the Spanish Government until December 2022. He defended his PhD thesis, dealing with the optimization of multibody systems, in December 2022.

Picture Francisco Bottero <francisco.bottero@udc.es>

Francisco Bottero graduated in Mechanical Engineering at Universidad Tecnologica Nacional, Facultad Regional de Cordoba (Argentina) in September 2017. From September 2018 to June 2020 he studied his master in Mechanical Engineering at University of La Coruña. In June 2019 he joined the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering of University of La Coruña, granted by the research funds of the Laboratory. His work focuses on the simulation of fishing nets and the development of testing machines for them.

Picture Ánxela Pérez Costa <anxela.perez@udc.es>

Ánxela Pérez completed the degree in Engineering in Industrial Design and Product Development from the University of La Coruña, in July 2020. From September 2020 to June 2021, she completed the master's degree in Interaction Design and User Experience (UX) at the Open University of Catalonia. From November 2021 to December 2022 she worked at the Fruto DS studio in Soutomayor (Pontevedra), and from December 2022 to November 2023 she worked at Mobalco, in A Pobra do Caramiñal (La Coruña). In November 2023 she joined the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering of University of La Coruña, with a predoctoral contract from the Ferrol Industrial Campus. Her work focuses on the study of human-interface interaction in augmented reality environments for biomedical applications.

Picture Santiago Beron <santiago.beron@udc.es>

Santiago Beron completed his Bioengineering degree at the Faculty of Engineering of the National University of Entre Rios (FIUNER, Argentina), in September 2023. In April 2024, he joined the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory of the UDC, with a predoctoral contract from the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. His work focuses on the analysis of human movement in real time.

Picture Natalia María Somoza Morales <natalia.somoza@udc.es>

Natalia Somoza obtained a degree in Engineering in Industrial Design and Product Development from the University of La Coruña (Spain) in June 2024. In July 2024 she joined the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory of the UDC, hired with the research funds of the Laboratory. Her work focuses on the development of a prototype cross-border emergency vehicle.
